“INCREASING INTEREST IN PARTICIPATING IN VINANDINO 2009”

The competition maintains its international spirit updated, owing to the origin of the samples received and also because of the series of lectures that will be delivered by worldwide renowned experts.

The 9th edition of VINANDINO will be the field where wines and spirited beverages of wine origin from different parts of the world will be evaluated by prominent experts who will constitute the jury. An evidence of this is the origin of the participating samples – France, Portugal, Chile and Argentina.

An initiative that stands out in the present edition is the series of lectures that will be delivered by international experts. This will enable the attendants to receive information and exchange knowledge about the different realities of world vitiviniculture.

In this regard, the director general of the International Organization of Vine and Wine, Federico Castellucci, will lecture in San Juan about “The Present Situation of Vitiviniculture”.

Whereas in Mendoza two presentations have been confirmed: on the one hand, Dr Cynthia Lund, who lives in New Zealand and the United States, will present the lecture “Now you smell it, now you don’t? Wine a complex matrix”. On the other hand, the expert Eric Johannsen from the USA will talk about “Quality Factors in the Vinification of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay in California”. In addition, Mr. Silvio Alberto from Argentina confirmed a conference about “Quality Management in the Wine Industry”.

Another innovation in the competition is the participation of table wines, given their importance in the industry. The category which includes them is called “Everyday Wines”. Thus, categories IX to XIII gather this type of wines: White, Rosé and Red Wines of non aromatic vines; and also White and Rosé wines of aromatic vines, which in turn are subdivided in groups according to reducing sugars content, which can be from 4g/L to 30g/L.
